Important - NHS services across the North West are experiencing extremely high demand at the moment – this includes GP practices and the 111 service which are both extremely busy. If you need advice for an every-day illness or injury, please either contact your local pharmacy for help or look at the self-care advice that’s available on-line from the NHS at www.nhs.uk. If you want to check your symptoms, there is an on-line symptom checker available at 111.nhs.uk, which will re-direct you to a health professional if you need to be seen by someone. If you have persistent symptoms that are not getting better, contact your practice for advice

Hub information
Moreton and Meols PCN vaccination hub is located at Moreton Cross Group Practice. Patients will be treated at the hub by Clinicians from their own Practice, unless told otherwise.
We always ask patients to attend their appointment on time and wear a face covering in the building, unless exempt.
There is limited parking available on site, so please consider this when planning your journey.
Vaccination appointment booking
Your practice reception team will be in touch with you directly when eligible for your COVID 19 Vaccine. We ask that you do not call reception during this time, as phone lines must be left available for all other medical needs.
We are up to date and following all government guidance when contacting patients to book in for your vaccine.
Our Facebook page, posts regular updates regarding the cohorts.
Vaccine priority groups
We are currently working through phase one of the vaccination programme, this includes cohorts 1-9:
Moreton & Meols PCN have now successfully vaccinated patients in cohorts 1-4 with their first dose of the COVID vaccine.
If you are a patient of one of our practices and believe you fall within cohort 1-4 (using the criteria detailed above) and you have not received your vaccine please get in touch with your practice to let them know.
COHORT UPDATE FEBRUARY 2021
Group 5 and 6
The National COVID vaccination programme has now been targeted to vaccinate people in cohorts 5 and 6.
Building on the success that General Practice has already shown in targeting vaccines for the clinically extremely vulnerable we have now been asked to focus our priority on those patients in cohort 6 (those 18 -64 years with underlying health conditions) given the relationship between general practice and those with long term conditions and the importance of maintaining continuity of care.
As PCN led sites like Moreton & Meols PCN will be focussing on vaccinating cohort 6, patients in cohort 5 (those aged 65-69) will have received letters inviting them to book in for their vaccinations at a mass vaccination centre.
However in Wirral we are keen to provide a local offer for those patients in cohort 5 and as such patients may be contacted from staff at our vaccination centre at Clatterbridge to arrange booking of vaccination appointments.
If patients are unable to attend the Clatterbridge site then they can of course request to be vaccinated within our local PCN site, however please note you may be able to be booked in quicker via Clatterbridge as we are focussing on cohort 6 patients currently.
Carers update
Changes recently announced aimed to ensure that carers supporting those most at risk of COVID-19 morbidity are vaccinated. This means that whilst vaccinating carers of adults remains largely unchanged, it does now mean that we will not automatically be able to vaccinate the carers of children who are eligible and this is in line with the greatest mortality factor for COVID-19 of age as instructed by NHS England.
Carers of adults we will be primarily offered an appointment for vaccination at Clatterbridge. The appointments will be booked via WIRED by contacting the following number: 0151 670 0777
Carers will need to have their NHS number ready as without it they can’t book an appointment. The link to the area on nhs.uk where people can find their NHS number is here.
As mentioned previously, carers will be offered an appointment at Clatterbridge. However, if they are unable to get there or would prefer to be vaccinated at a PCN site this will be accommodated.
Please note we are working through cohorts as quickly as we can and in line with NHS England guidelines but we are proud to say that Wirral are performing well in terms of COVID vaccinations. However please note that we are reliant on national supply and therefore we can only vaccinate with the supply we have each week.
Please also note that we are restricted to only vaccinating within the eligible cohorts and so we ask for patients understanding in this area.
Patients who have received a first dose should ideally have their second dose in the same location. Therefore all patients that have been vaccinated via the Moreton & Meols PCN will be offered appointments for their second dose at the appropriate date which will most likely be 11 weeks after their first dose.
We are starting to give second dose vaccinations from w/c 8th March – please note ALL second dose vaccinations will be given at our Moreton Cross Group Practice site in Pasture Road.
Some first dose vaccinations may be administered from individual practices so please ensure when your appointment is booked that you are clear exactly which site to attend.
Thank you all again for your cooperation through such a crucial time.
