Repeat prescription ordering and issuing turnaround times

Ordered before 1pm on Monday ready on Wednesday from 2pm.

Ordered before 1pm on Tuesday ready on Thursday from 2pm.

Ordered before 1pm on Wednesday ready on Friday from 2pm.

Ordered before 1pm on Thursday ready on Monday from 2pm.

Ordered before 1pm on Friday ready on Tuesday from 2pm.

If you are taking regular medication, you will be issued with a computer slip listing the drugs you are taking. Repeat medication request slips are also available in the practice foyers. When you need more medication tick the items you need and either:

• Place your request into the prescriptions box in the Practice foyers
• Order online via the NHS App  (this is the quickest method as it goes straight to the GP’s inbox)

Please allow 2 working days for your repeat prescription to be processed, excluding weekends and bank holidays. You may be asked to make an appointment if the doctor feels that you need an up to date review. The surgery does not accept repeat prescription requests over the telephone and your request will be refused unless you are registered as a housebound patient.

Please only ask for the drugs you need, cross off any you do not require each time you make a request.

Order your repeat prescriptions through the NHS App

The NHS App allows you to order repeat prescriptions straight to your GP’s inbox. It is the quickest and most efficient way to order your repeat prescriptions. You can either access the NHS App by downloading the App to your device or through the website at https://www.nhsapp.service.nhs.uk/login.

WE ARE ADVISING ALL PATIENTS TO DOWNLOAD THE NHS App TO ORDER PRESCRIPTIONS. 

REGISTRATION DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY PAPERWORK TO BE COMPLETED AT THE SURGERY-IT CAN ALL BE DONE FROM THE COMFORT OF YOUR OWN HOME

Please Note: If you have previously used another app such as Patient Access or MyGP to request your repeat prescriptions you can continue to use this service.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO A SMARTPHONE/ IPAD ETC. THEN PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS CAN BE EMAILED TO THE PRACTICE EMAIL ADDRESS:

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO ANY OF THE ONLINE SERVICES OR EMAIL THEN PLEASE POST YOUR PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS IN THE PRESCRIPTION BOXES IN THE FOYERS AT BOTH SITES OR OUTSIDE THE BUILDING AT CHADWICK STREET.  PREFERABLY WE WOULD REQUEST YOU HAND IN YOUR PAPER PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS TO OUR PASTURE ROAD SITE WHEN POSSIBLE.

WE ARE ASKING EVERYBODY TO ALLOW PRESCRIPTIONS TO BE SENT ELECTRONICALLY TO THE PHARMACY WHERE POSSIBLE. PLEASE ADVISE US OF YOUR PHARMACY NOMINATION BY MARKING ON YOUR PRESCRIPTION REQUEST FORM. IN THE EVENT THAT YOUR PRESCRIPTION IS UNABLE TO BE SENT ELECTRONICALLY AND YOU ARE REQUIRED TO COLLECT IT DIRECTLY FROM THE PRACTICE PLEASE COME TO THE SCREEN AT THE FRONT DESK AND A RECEPTIONIST CAN ASSIST YOU.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Most adults in England have to pay prescription charges.

Some items are always free, including contraceptives and medicines prescribed for hospital inpatients.

The current prescription charge is £9.65 per item.

A prescription prepayment certificate (PPC) could save you money on NHS prescription costs:

a 3-month PPC costs £31.25

a 12-month PPC is £111.60

a 12-month PPC for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) only is £19.30
